Internal Quality Audit (AMI)
Faculty of Engineering Unhas
Internal Quality Audit (AMI) Faculty of Engineering Unhas is an independent and objective assurance and consultation audit of academic operational activities or academic processes. This activity aims to:
1. Provide added value and improve academic operational activities or academic processes of the Faculty of Engineering Unhas;
2. Know that the implementation of academic quality standards is appropriate and effective, and there are efforts to improve these academic quality standards;
3. Identify the scope of improvement and develop it professionally and continuously.
A quality system is a system that includes :
Organizational structure,
Responsibility,
Procedure,
Process, and
Resources.
In conducting an internal academic quality audit, it is necessary to know in advance the quality system of the unit to be audited. The Academic Quality Assurance System at the Faculty of Engineering Unhas is presented in Figure 1.

Quality standards are standards that must be referred to, met, or complied with in carrying out an activity. Examples of Quality Standards include:
ISO 9000 Quality Management System Standard;
Indonesian National Standard (SNI);
ISO 9001:2000, Quality Management System Requirements. Contains the requirements of the standard used to assess the organization’s ability to meet appropriate regulatory requirements;
ISO 10011, Guidelines for Auditing Quality and Environmental Management Systems. Provides guidelines for verifying the system’s ability to achieve quality objectives. This standard can be used for internal audits or auditing suppliers;
ISO 10013:1995, Guidelines for Developing Quality Manuals. Provides guidelines for developing and maintaining a quality manual.
The quality standards used by the Academic Implementation Unit of the Faculty of Engineering Unhas in carrying out academic activities / educational processes include:

Academic Regulations of Unhas;
Strategic Plan of Faculty of Engineering Unhas;
Guidelines for the Organization of Undergraduate Programs Unhas;
Guidelines for the Implementation of the Unhas Masters Program;
Guidelines for the Implementation of the Unhas Doctoral Programs;
Study Program Specifications;
Graduate Competencies; 10.

Letter of Decision.
AMI has an accountability function and an improvement function. In carrying out the accountability function, AMAI carries out activities that are independent and objective to clarify and verify whether efforts to maintain and improve the quality of academic activities in accordance with the academic quality standards of the Faculty of Engineering Unhas are appropriate and effective, and whether responsibilities are carried out properly and efficiently. The improvement function is carried out to help the work unit concerned to better understand its condition, and to identify strengths and weaknesses in policies, practices and procedures. All internal audit policies are conducted for both of these functions, with varying emphasis.
The purpose of AMI is to assist all members of the academic implementation unit in carrying out their duties to achieve the set academic goals effectively and responsibly.
An independent and objective method of examining the domain of academic activity.
Based on a framework of questions derived from the following fundamental problems:
What are you doing?
Why are you doing it?
Did what you did meet your expectations?
How can you improve the quality of the work you do ?
Necessary for clarification and verification that expectations according to academic quality standards have been systematically met.
Verification is carried out periodically to ensure that expectations in accordance with academic quality standards are always met.
Engage peer opinion based on the results of comparing and evaluating audit evidence, against expectations and criteria according to academic quality standards.
AMI contributes to the improvement of the academic quality assurance system by :
Reduce the bureaucracy of academic quality assurance procedures and make the academic quality assurance system more effective and efficient.
Increased focus and emphasis on planned improvement and development, not only for monitoring and evaluation (review) but also for accountability purposes.
Provide delegated support for quality assurance in the study program.
The scope of AMI Faculty of Engineering Unhas includes academic implementation at the Faculty of Engineering Unhas and study programmes within the Faculty of Engineering Unhas.academic implementation at the Faculty of Engineering Unhas and study programmes within the Faculty of Engineering Unhas.
Academic process audits consist of :
Audit laboratorium;
Library audit;
Audit of academic support units.
Study program/course/learning program audit:
Audit of learning program implementation;
Audit of learning materials.
Audit of quality assurance systems, procedures and quality management :
Accuracy of information on leaflets, guidebooks, websites, etc.
Student admission policies, information and procedures;
Opening and evaluation of study programs;
Learning outcome evaluation procedures;
Guidance on student assignments;
Procedures for handling student complaints;
Procedure for appointment of external examiners;
Lecturer evaluation;
Staff performance appraisal procedures;
Procedures for awarding outstanding lecturers / employees / students;
Procedures for recruitment of lecturers teaching courses
Cooperation with other institutions in the learning process;
Organization of off-campus activities;
Implementation of the code of conduct.

Internal quality audit of Faculty of Engineering Unhas under the control of GPM Faculty of Engineering Unhas.
AMI is a continuous and periodic audit activity. The flow of AMI checks can be carried out by linking several audit processes. AMAI activities include two activities, namely Assurance Services and Consultation Services.
Assurance services include objective assessment of available evidence by internal auditors, in order to obtain an independent conclusion about the quality of academic activities, or other matters related to the activities of the academic implementation unit. The nature and scope of assurance service activities are determined by the internal auditor in accordance with the client’s request.
Consultation Service is a provision of advice made at the specific request of the client whose nature and scope are determined by the client..
Consultation activities involve two parties, namely:
The group that provides advice (auditors),
Group that needs or receives advice (client).
When carrying out consulting activities, auditors must maintain objectivity and not take over management responsibilities.
Parties involved in AMI Activities
Audited is a person or group who is directly involved in the process of academic activities, academic systems or other matters related to academic activities that are audited against established quality standards
Auditors are people or groups who are qualified to conduct academic quality audits.
A client is a person or group that requests an audit.
The quality assurance system cycle of the Faculty of Engineering begins with the determination/revision of quality standards, then followed successively by implementation, monitoring, self-evaluation, implementation of internal quality audits, and formulation of corrections for continuous quality improvement (Figure 2).
